Shopping in Delhi

DELHI HAAT

Address: K-77, Royal Apartment, Batla House, Jamia, Okhla, Okhla, New Delhi, Delhi 110025, India
Opening Hours: 10am-745pm (Closed on Sunday)

Delhi Haat (craft cottage industries), is a huge chain of stores. They are located all over New Delhi. Although they possess the same name, but the things they sell are slightly different in terms of design. We visited a couple of Delhi Haat stores, & realized that despite the fact that they sell the same products in large quantities such as carpets, customized clothes/suits, bohemian bags, cushion covers etc. Their designs are completely different.

The best Delhi Haat store is the one we went, which i have provided the address above. They have way more variety & hospitality is better. R customized a full suit for 14400INR (SGD300). He got a White formal top, blazer & pants. He got the Italian design which fit him like a glove. The payment includes free delivery within 24hours.

I did a long skirt for 2500INR (SGD52). I chose the fabric & explained the kind of design i wanted. You have to be specific in the details to avoid any miscommunication.

They have lots of bohemian clutches/bags sold there. But id suggest not to buy any clutches from them because each clutch cost 400INR (SGD8). I found another bazaar which sold each clutch which was way nicer & larger in size, priced at 150SGD (SGD3)! It s a huge price difference.

The bazaar that sells a ton of such cluthces is a tibetan market called,

' Janpath market '.

JANPATH & THE TIBETAN MARKET

Address: Janpath Rd, Janpath, Connaught Place, New Delhi, Delhi 110001, India
Opening Hours: 8am-7pm (opened daily)

Of all the bazaars i've visited in Delhi, Janpath & the tibetan market is by far my favourite!! If you are very into things like embroidery, colours, pom pom bags etc. Then you'll totally love everything the tibetan market sells! It is pure bohemian vibes paradise!

Lots of ear rings too! I mean, just check out the photos..

Chandni Chowk

Opening Hours: 10am-8pm (closed on Sunday)

Chandni chowk is located in Old Delhi. It is a muslim area & is so rich in culture & a real experience to soak it all in. R & i loved the vibes so much we revisited Chandni Chowk one more time on our last night in Delhi. I'd recommend visiting Chandni Chowk to really see the raw side of India, to immerse yourself fully in their traditional homemade sweets, pita bread etc.

It is very crowded so be careful. The place is huge too. We just kept walking constantly wondering where the road ends which often leads to another street of shops.

Found a street stall selling these beautiful embroidered clutches. Still, the price cannot beat Janpath & The tibetan market. These cost 250INR. 100INR more than what the tibetan market was selling/clutch.

Hauz Khas Village

Address:  Hauz Khas Village, Deer Park, Hauz Khas, New Delhi, Delhi 110016, India
Opening Hours: 1030am-730pm (Closed Sunday)

Hauz Khas Village is kind of like a hipster area. The little shops there sell things you would find at Haji Lane. Not cheap at all. They had a few cafes which were difficult to find & all of which are located within narrow walkways & alleys. Sometimes getting lost brings you to the most extraordinary places. Which was what happened to us.

We stumbled upon a park which was not your usually full of flowers kind of park.. Instead, there were ruins everywhere. Old, but beautiful buildings with a story.

I wished we'd entered the deer park when we walked pass it. My friend told me that there are alot of deers inside the deer park. You gotta walk in further to spot em. And it is free entry.

Sarojini Market

Address:  Sarojini Nagar Market, Sarojini Nagar, New Delhi, Delhi 110023, India
Opening Hours: 10am-9pm (closed on Monday)

I was a tad overwhelmed when i stepped into this market. Didn't expect it to be so packed! If you are looking for saris & bangles, this place would be it! They had lots of local stuff such as saris, necklaces, traditional indian shoes etc.

There was however, a shop selling vintage small furniture & little knick knacks which i absolutely loved! Very Moroccan kinda vibes. The market is mighty huge too.
