Sai Wan beach & Sheung Lok Stream

This post will be mainly about how to get to Sai Wan Beach & the hidden gem there called "Sheung Lok Stream". One thing to bear in mind is to always rmbr tt the travelling time in HK is long & so, always set off early. Best timing is to do it before 12pm.

To get to Sai Wan beach, we took a bus from Mongkok outside Kwong Wah hospital which is located at 43 Dundas rd.

Image shown below is where the buses to Sai Kung are located at. The fastest way to get to this area is to go through Fa Yuen market & walked through the market till u reach the end. Turn left, & you will def see these buses.

If you are planning to camp at the beach, find this store at Sai Kung Pier. They have all the supplies for camping & stuff. It's like a mini version of SG's Sia Huat.

The bus to Sai Wan Village(which leads to Sai Wan beach + Sheung Lok stream), is located at Sai Kung's Macdonald. The bus no. is 29R ! There is a small board with a paper on it that shows the timing of the buses. It starts as early as 9am if i rmrbed correctly. For weekdays, the last bus is at 330pm. Takes 1 hr to hike to Sai Wan beach. Which is why i suggest starting your hike (inclusive of travelling time) before 12pm.

Sit bus 29R all the way till it stops at this Pavillion. Walk towards the sign tt states : SAI WAN VILLAGE. Go no where but only towards this place! Cause we walked the wrong way & got lost. Just find the sign which is located right infront of the Pavillion tt says SAI WAN VILLAGE & follow the trail all the way. Follow the signs that says "Sai Wan", u won't get lost.

You will pass through Sai Wan village beforing arriving at the beach.
Walk Through this path to get to Sheung Lok stream. The stream is located before the bridge.

Our camping experience at Sai Wan Beach was amazing. Initially we planned to camp at Ham Tim beach having read that it was one of the best beaches in HK. However, we decided to camp at Sai wan instead due to the lack of time & it was getting dark.
We literally slept on a picnic mat R brought with a blanket we had to share to keep us warm throughout the cooling night. We wore long pants & top to keep us warm & socks to keep our feet from turning cold. We picked up firewood, set up camp at the beach on the far end, sat close to the fire to keep warm when it started getting a tad chilly & cuddled whilst gazing at the vast sky that was displayed right before our very eyes. I wished, then & there, that time would stop so that i could enjoy this particular moment for a longer time. There's a hut that rents our tents & camping equipments. Bear in mind that these items do not come cheap! Which is why we brought our own camping equipments. Best to get disposable kinds so as to avoid lugging so much items back. The hike back was mad tiring as we were going upwards.

My experience at Sai Wan beach was amazing & i would most definitely do it all over again. Had such a great chillax time.
Below is a video i did on my time spent in HK! (:

Happy birthday Daddy, i miss you.

Happy birthday Daddy. It's not even been a year since you left, & i miss you so much. I've repeated this so many times to myself & i often find myself wondering if you can hear me. Till this day, i've thought about the numerous "what if's" you were still around & the things i would do to make it up to you for the countless of empty promises i made to you & the times i let you down.

I wonder if you are okay up there. I hope you are having a party in heaven for your birthday.  I miss you so much & i wish you were here by my side. I think, i've cried so many times on several occassions be it at home, in the bus, on R's bike, work  etc. It seems i can never be all cried out whenever the thought of how much i wish you were by my side, alive on earth, hugging me when you see me, kissing me on the cheek, can make me feel. I just want you back even though i know it's impossible. I have so many things to tell you & most of all, to tell you how much i love you. That i feel so empty ever since you left so abruptly. Looking at your picture everyday on my screensaver made my heart sink each time i used my phone. Every morn when i wake, it's like a huge wave that drags me into the deep ocean, reminding me that you are not around. & Nothing i do will ever change that.

I miss you daddy. I love you so much. Happy birthday to the greatest father who loved me unconditionally. Till i see you again daddy, i'll have stories to share with you.

Hong Kong with love.

The bus to Sai Kung Pier is ocated directly opposite this ice cream shop!

10SGD ice cream. So expensive but it's yumzz!

On the first day that we arrived in HK, R & i reached ard 10am at our hostel. We stayed at Mongkok which is a great location as it is in the middle of the places we wanted to go which made our travelling time shorter compared to staying some place further. Ntm, Mongkok is a pretty happening place. Even at 11pm the roads are filled with people. HK is so crowded 24/7 it gave me a lil headache. My main purpose of gg to HK was to hike. So yes, we avoided the crowd quite alot during our holiday.

Just a note in case any of you intend to do some hiking in HK.. Most of the mountains start from Sai Kung. There is a bus tt takes you straight to the Sai Kung pier from Mongkok. Below is the location.

43 Dundas rd (Off waterloo rd), Outside Kwong Wah Hospital

This is the bus (pic above). From Sai Kung Pier, there is a bus tt runs 24/7 to bring you back to Mongkok. Cost 16HKD/person. Which is why i said staying in Mongkok is pretty awesome as it is so convenient. There are several vintage shops which has rly nice & quirky items that you will def find if u look hard enough. Plus, it's so cheap! Most of these vintage stores have a section that's a buy 5 get 1 free thing. & Each item is priced at less than 1SGD! How awesome?!

It's honestly a sea of clothes that those who appreciate vintage wld go crazy! I def did! Oh &, it's 2 storeys! You are sure to find something you like, trust me.

Do keep a lookout for my HK video which i am gna compile all 5days into 1 video! (:
